Midfielder Juan Mata has arrived at Manchester United’s training complex to undergo a medical ahead of his record-breaking move to Old Trafford.

The Premier League champions posted a video clip of Mata arriving by helicopter on their Facebook page, alongside an image of the 25-year-old being greeted by club manager David Moyes.

The Spaniard will now complete formalities and is expected to seal his switch in time to feature in Tuesday's Barclays Premier League encounter with Cardiff at Old Trafford.

United revealed in a statement on Friday that they had agreed club-record fee to prise Mata away from Stamford Bridge, breaking the £30.75million paid for Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.

It is thought the club have agreed to pay a sum in the region of £37million.

A selection of Reds players have since taken to social networking site Twitter to welcome Mata to the club.

Alongside a picture of the Spaniard in the moments following his arrival at the club's Carrington training ground, Robin van Persie Tweeted: “Welcome Juan Mata, see you all tuesday.”

David De Gea also embraced the arrival while having a dig at the Spaniard's attire, Tweeting: "Welcome to my brother @juanmata10 just one thing....Not the best clothes!!"

And Rio Ferdinand added: "Welcome to my amigo @juanmata10 ! Hoping you enjoy ya time here and help continue the success at this club #mufc'
