Joshua Onomah: Tottenham debut has been my dream since I was nine

Dream debut: Onomah made his first Spurs start against Monaco

Debutant Joshua Onomah has revealed he was desperate to cap his first Tottenham start with a goal.

The 18-year-old made his Spurs bow as Mauricio Pochettino's men advanced to the Europa League last-32 as group winners with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Monaco.

Erik Lamela struck a first-half hat-trick before Tom Carroll slid in his first Tottenham goal from a tight angle to round off a fine display from the north Londoners.

Onomah was disappointed not to get on the scoresheet himself despite going close in the second period, drawing a great save from close range, but realised a nine-year dream in the process.

"I was so happy to make my first start I could feel the crowd & I wanted to do well," he told Tottenham's official site.

"It was a great start and a fantastic team performance. I was trying so hard to get a goal but that'll have to wait!

"Since I was nine it has been my dream to play for Spurs and I'm delighted to have made my first start."
