Jose Mourinho admits Manchester United have a "difficult" but "special" week ahead of his return to former club Chelsea on Sunday.

Mourinho's United side have already faced fierce rivals Liverpool this week - a game in which they secured a goalless draw in - with the Red Devils playing Fenerbahce in the Europa League tonight before travelling to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

In contrast, Antonio Conte's men have a full week to prepare for their Premier League clash with United, having beaten champions Leicester City 3-0 at home last Saturday.

Mourinho admits United's run-in to the club's eagerly-anticipated match with the Blues has been "difficult" but insists his players will be ready for the test at the Bridge.

"We have a special and a difficult week," Mourinho said ahead of his side's Europa League clash against Fenerbahce.

"Monday, Thursday, Sunday - Liverpool, Fenerbahce, Chelsea is a difficult week.

"Fenerbahce played Sunday at home. We played Monday night. Chelsea [have] one week to work, two days off, and the rest of the week to work and wait for Sunday.

"We have to play tomorrow [Thursday] again, we have to play on Sunday - it's a very difficult week for us. But that's what we have and we have to be ready."
