Frank Lampard believes Jose Mourinho is struggling to identify the cause behind Chelsea’s meteoric decline this season, after succumbing to their ninth Premier League defeat of the season.

Chelsea lost 2-1 away to Leicester City last night in a match that leaves the Blues just one point above the relegation zone, with 16 matches played.

Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard, who was analysing the match for Sky Sports, believes that his former boss is struggling to find a way to stop their current plight.

"[Those were] Strong words,” reacted Lampard. “I don't think he [Mourinho] knows where to go with it. I don't think he sees a way out.

“He is not sure if they over-performed last season or if they are bad players. I don't know whether he has lost the players.

“Changing the manager is only one man's decision: Roman Abramovich.
