You would have been forgiven for thinking John Terry has swallowed a bus-sized wasp on Sunday as the Chelsea captain looked on from the bench in the second half of their defeat to Manchester City.

The Chelsea captain looked on from the bench in the second half of their defeat to Manchester City.

It was the first time Terry had been substituted since May 2013, and the first time ever in a Premier League match under Jose Mourinho’s stewardship.

"It was a decision," he told reporters. "Zouma is the fastest defender we have in the squad. I know Man City are going to play counter attack and Zouma is a different player to John and was proven right because Zouma was in complete control."

At 34, adding pace to his game is probably beyond the former England captain but, renowned for his footballing brain, Terry has managed to up his speed to a draw-dropping 163mph.

JT’s gone GT and bought himself a new Ferari.

Taking to Instagram to flaunt his new wheels, Terry posted a picture of his Ferrari 275 GTB (top), reportedly worth up to £1.5 million. As you may have guessed, it’s blue.

With this new 3.3 V-12 litre-engine monster, let’s see who’s faster now, Mr Zouma.
