John Terry hits out over Chelsea’s ‘unacceptable’ Premier League slump

11 April 2012

John Terry today branded Chelsea's Premier League form as "unacceptable" as he spelt out his fears over their troubled title defence.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have plunged to fifth in the table after picking up just 10 points from their last 11 games and trail leaders Manchester United by nine points, having played a game more.

They returned to winning ways with a 7-0 victory over Ipswich in the FA Cup on Sunday but Terry feels the hard work to rebuild their season has only just begun.

Chelsea take on Blackburn in the League at home on Saturday and the skipper admitted: "Our recent performances have not been good enough, we're not playing at the level we can and we're slipping further behind the leaders with every point we drop.

"That's unacceptable for a club like this, where we expect to win every game and now we have to start to put things right.

"We want to go on another run in the FA Cup but we don't want this to be the only trophy we have left to play for come May. This squad should be challenging at the top of the league, winning games and pushing hard in every competition that remains our aim, even if we have gone off course recently.

"But, before we start thinking about silverware, we have to concentrate on starting to win games again."

Terry is adamant there are no problems behind the scenes despite speculation over Ancelotti's future and talk of unrest in the dressing room.

He added: "The players and the manager are all united in getting past this spell of form."
