Chelsea fans could be forced to bid their long-standing captain John Terry farewell this summer as the defender's future at his boyhood club remains uncertain.
The Blues stalled over contract negotiations after Terry told reporters at the beginning of the year he would not be handed an extension to his current deal, which expires this summer.
But the 35-year-old, who has been at the club since the age of 14, is now considering an offer of new terms to keep him a Stamford Bridge for a further 12 months.
Terry missed Chelsea's penultimate game of the campaign against Liverpool last Wednesday and will also be absent as they host champions Leicester City on Sunday after he was sent off in the Blues' 3-2 loss at Sunderland recently.
And it is now up to Terry to decide if his last showing in a Chelsea shirt will be a clumsy high challenge on Wahbi Khazri at the Stadium of Light.
If the former England captain opts against signing the new deal, it will bring the curtain down on a glittering spell at Stamford Bridge.
Terry has won no less than 16 major trophies - including the Champions League - at the club making him Chelsea's most successful captain ever.
Needless to say then that Terry's time with the Blues will fondly be remembered by Chelsea fans should he leave this summer - from his early beginnings as a teenager to the defender lifting the Champions League trophy in 2012.
