Joel Campbell is confident that Arsenal can overcome the challenge posed by Sheffield Wednesday if they treat their opponents with respect.

Arsene Wenger is expected to rest several leading first-teamers for the Capital One Cup tie, giving the likes of Campbell the chance to make their case for more regular selection.

However the visitors will have to be wary of the threat posed by Carlos Carvalhal’s fast-improving Wednesday side, unbeaten in their last eight games and just four points off the Championship top six.

Costa Rica international Campbell, a peripheral figure at the Emirates this season, expects the Owls to cause Arsenal problems, but is expecting the Premier League side to deal with them.

"We know what teams from the Championship are capable of," he told the club website.

"All teams want to win this tournament - it's an important tournament, especially for teams from the second division playing against a Premier League club.

"They're going to be extra-motivated to get the win - you have to respect every team you play. If we approach the match with respect, we'll have a good chance of winning."

Campbell’s only start of the season came in last month’s League Cup tie against Tottenham, but he struggled to convince Wenger he was worth any more than a spot on the substitute’s bench.
