Arsenal Women boss Joe Montemurro believes tonight’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City Women will be a good indication of his side’s ability to challenge for major honours this season.

Arsenal have started the new season in fine form, winning their first two games of the Women’s Super League and scoring 15 goals in the process.

They now face Manchester City in the semi-finals of last season’s rescheduled FA Cup, with a place against Everton in the final awaiting the winners, and Montemurro is relishing the challenge ahead of him.

“Ever since I've been here, with City alone, we've been quite competitive,” he said.

“We beat them twice last year and we unfortunately lost to them at the Academy Ground. They're a very good team and they've recruited very, very well again this year. It's going to be a really good indicator for us as to where we're at.”

Sky Sports, meanwhile, are leading the race to become the new home for WSL coverage next season as they are pushing to tying up a broadcast deal to show the majority of matches.

The tender processing is currently ongoing but Sky are pushing to lead the coverage ahead of the BBC and BT Sport.
