Amidst all the adulation and superlatives for Lionel Messi, following his stunning brace in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Bayern Munich, spare a thought for Jerome Boateng.
The former Manchester City defender was found wanting against the brilliance of the little maestro in the build-up to the second goal of the Champions League semi-final.
Boateng, could only watch from the floor as Messi dinked the ball over Manuel Neuer - seconds after his opponent's mazy run had left him in a heap.
