Jens Lehmann is ready to extend his Arsenal comeback into next season after claiming he only needed one game to prove he still had what it takes to star on the big stage.
Former Germany goalkeeper Lehmann came out of retirement two months ago to answer an SOS from the Gunners after they suffered an injury crisis.
The 41-year-old's services have only been required for one match during his short-term contract but ultra-confident Lehmann believes his performance showed he is good enough to play on next season.
He told Bild: "It was not really a comeback, but more of a last resort - actually more of a hobby.
"I took three weeks to get really fit - and then I had to play against Blackpool. I thought, 'You can do it still. It is not forgotten'.
"From my performance, I would be able to continue playing.
"My team-mates are always asking me if I'll still be here next season."
Even if he decides to retire for a second time, the former Schalke, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart stopper is likely to remain in football as he continues working towards his coaching badges, with England his preferred destination once the course is completed.
"I can very well imagine a job in football," he said.
"When you have such personalities as Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, this (England) is the ideal solution."
