Javier Hernandez seized on a 92nd‑minute blunder as Mexico beat Bosnia 2-1 in Chicago.
Hernandez, the Manchester United striker, poked the ball in after Stojan Vranjes tried to clear with a bicycle kick.
Bosnia coach Safet Susic said: “God was on Mexico’s side.”
Tottenham’s Giovani Dos Santos gave Mexico the lead before Edin Dzeko, of Manchester City, equalised.
