Jarrod Bowen continued his superb form to fire West Ham back into the Premier League’s top four.

The 25-year-old bagged a double in the victory over Norwich while also hitting the bar and post as well as having a goal ruled out.

West Ham controlled throughout and made it four wins from their last four games across all competitions to force themselves back into the conversation for the Champions League places.

Manager David Moyes was forced into a number of changes with Tomas Soucek, Ryan Fredericks and Mark Noble all absent from the squad, but was at least able to welcome Aaron Cresswell back from injury after a long spell out.

Cresswell brought control and composure to the back line as West Ham dominated throughout against the Premier League’s bottom side.

The hosts made a lively start with Bowen and Manuel Lanzini both presented with chances before the former finally struck late in the first half.

Vladimir Coufal, himself back in the side after missing the FA Cup win over Leeds United at the weekend, clipped a dangerous cross into the six yard box where Bowen, who has been working on different finishes in training, nipped ahead of his defender to steer a header in at the far post.

The opener came after a Bowen cross which had found the back off the net had been ruled out for an offside against Nikola Vlasic, and Bowen kept causing trouble after the break, chipping an effort onto the bar before hitting the upright after skipping past full-back Brandon Williams.

A deserved second would finally come when substitute Arthur Masuaku found space down the left and crossed for Bowen to tap in past Krul. The assistant threatened to rule that goal out but VAR came to the rescue to show the winger was onside and had scored his fifth Premier League goal of the season.

“It was a good performance,” said Bowen. “Norwich are fighting for points. We had to put the barricades up a little bit but with our attacking threat we’ve always got a goal in us.

“It would have been nice to get a hat-trick but to get two goals, three points and a clean sheet is good enough.

“We hit a bit of a rough patch and we were disappointed with our performances but that shows the standards we have set ourselves.”

The Hammers winger has been the one setting standards in east London of late. Bowen has been in inspired form in recent weeks and has three goals in his last two games and is leading the way for English players in the Premier League.

Across all competitions, Bowen has been involved in more goals this season than any other English player in the Premier League with eight goals and eight assists.
