Jamie Carragher pokes fun at Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy as Luis Diaz impresses for Liverpool

Jamie Carragher jokingly thanked Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy following Luis Diaz’s contribution to Liverpool’s win over Brighton on Saturday.

Spurs chased a deal for Diaz over the course of the January transfer window but their interest forced Liverpool into action, eventually signing the Colombian international for a fee of around £45m.

Since, the 25-year-old has rapidly adapted to life in England, scoring twice in five games, slotting in seamlessly alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diego Jota.

Diaz opened the scoring away at Brighton as Liverpool closed the gap on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League down to just three points with a trip to the Etihad up in April.

Like the aforementioned Jota, Diaz’s quick-fire impact speaks volumes about the coherent transfer strategy in play at the club and could have a major say in where the League title ends up come the end of the season.

“Luis Diaz’s impact could turn this season into a special one for @LFC,” wrote Carragher on Twitter.

“The club only signed him in January because Spurs made an offer, thanks Daniel!”
