Felipe Anderson opened his account for West Ham as Ipswich Town proved worthy opposition on Saturday.
The club-record signing took just two minutes to break the deadlock, before Ellis Harrison equalised. Marko Arnautovic slipped in the winner in the second half.
Manuel Pellegrini named a strong line-up for the second match running as all six of his summer signings were involved from the off and it didn't take long for the new faces to gel.
Starting on the right, Andriy Yarmolenko made good progress on the flank to find Ryan Fredericks in the final third. A neat touch and turn and the defender's subsequent cross was met by Anderson's head for his first goal.
Ipswich were asleep at the back but the early goal woke the hosts up and they were soon level. Andre Dozzell broke in midfield and found Harrison with a defence-splitting throughball to run on to and beat Lukasz Fabianski.
Harrison could, and should, have given Ipswich the lead minutes later when again the West Ham defence were left flat-footed to leave the striker in acres of space but his header from eight yards hit the post and bounced clear.
Wilshere, who played over an hour on Wednesday, was withdrawn at half-time for Snodgrass and the latter almost added to his goal in midweek when played in by Anderson, only to be thwarted by keeper Bartosz Bialkowski.
The second half was a tamer affair than first with few chances on goal but Arnautovic was his usual busy self.
It was the Austrian who settled the game, restoromg West Ham's lead by running through to beat the onrushing keeper inside the area.
Ipswich almost grabbed a late equaliser only for Pablo Zabaleta, a second-half substitute, to clear the danger.
