West Ham's Dimitri Payet stars on France return with 'enormous quality' vs Netherlands - Didier Deschamps
West Ham star Dimitri Payet is in 'top form' after impressing for France on international duty, according to Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps.
Payet played the full 90 minutes for France in Friday night's 3-2 win against Netherlands at the Amsterdam Arena, having last played for his country in June 2015.
The Hammers talisman was afforded a return to the international frame after helping to guide the east London club to fifth in the Premier League table this term, and did not disappoint Deschamps in an attacking midfield role.
The 29-year-old forced an early save from Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen after four minutes, and then struck the post after an hour following a fine run through the middle.
Reuters reports Deschamps as telling reporters: "He [Payet] confirmed with us what he has been doing with his club.
"Every time he touched the ball, he made something happen. He has enormous qualities and made a massive effort. He is on top form."
Friday's match brought Payet his 16th cap, with the attacker increasingly likely to be selected by Deschamps for his final 23-man squad as France look to win Euro 2016 on home soil this summer.
Payet will have another chance to impress Deschamps as Les Bleus host Russia in Paris on March 29.
