Christmas has come early for Tottenham fans - Hugo Lloris has signed a new contract which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2022.

The Spurs captain's future has been widely speculated upon this season but he has committed his long-term future to Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Lloris's deal is believed to be within Tottenham's current wage structure but could eventually be worth £120,000-a-week to the 29-year-old.

The Frenchman's decision to stay put means that Spurs have tied down the nucleus of their squad to fresh terms with Lloris adamant he believes in the club's ongoing "project".

And he isn't alone. Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker, Tom Carroll, Harry Winks and Cameron Carter-Vickers have all signed new deals in recent months to suggest the future is bright in N17.

Unsurprisingly, news of Lloris's new deal has gone down rather well among Spurs fans, many of whom have have spread messages of cheer on social media.

Tottenham's next match sees them take on Pochettino's former side, Southampton, on December 28. You can follow the match live with Standard Sport. Click here to find out how.
