Rasmus Hojlund stepped up his recovery from injury by training in a bid to feature for Manchester United in the Premier League as quickly as possible.

The £72m signing arrived from Atalanta nursing a minor injury and was not involved in either of the last two pre-season friendlies against Lens and Athletic Bilbao.

United begin their Premier League campaign at home to Wolves on Monday and could hand fellow summer signings Andre Onana and Mason Mount competitive debuts but will be without the Danish international.

Hojlund is expected to miss the opening few weeks of the campaign and is currently training on an individual basis at the club’s Carrington base.

The club continue to be linked with moves for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

United have agreed a £30m fee with West Ham for former captain Harry Maguire and the east London club remain interested in a move for Scott McTominay.
