Harry Redknapp believes the team are now playing their best football of the season ahead of their crucial Easter Monday meeting with Fulham.

Rangers are bottom of the table and looking to respond after losing against relegation rivals Aston Villa in their last match. Villa, who are in 17th place, are now seven points clear of Rangers.

Redknapp said: “We can get out of it. We’re playing well, if we were in bad form I’d be more worried. We had five games where we didn’t lose, then had defeats against Manchester United and Swansea, then two wins and played well at Villa.

“At least we’re going into last eight matches playing well. There are four or five wins in us. It gives us a chance. It’s in our hands, it’s up to us.”

Redknapp insists Adel Taarabt, who has lost his place in the starting line-up, still has a part to play. “He’s very much in the frame,” said Redknapp.

“He is a great talent but, like everybody, he has to work hard.

“When you do what he can do you’re never going to be consistent. The only one who does play like that is Lionel Messi but he works his socks off, too.”

Redknapp has dismissed speculation linking him with a return to West Ham. He said: “I found it embarrassing when I saw it in the papers. They’ve got a manager. Sam [Allardyce] has done a great job there and is talking about signing a new contract.”

Bobby Zamora is fit to face his former club at Craven Cottage following an ankle injury.
