Harry Redknapp will remain as Birmingham manager after agreeing a one-year deal with the Blues.

Redknapp was handed the reins at St. Andrew's on a short-term basis in April following Gianfranco Zola's decision to stand down and steered the club to Championship safety with two victories in their final three matches.

Zola had managed the same number of wins from his 22-game spell with Birmingham and the club would be preparing for third tier football had Redknapp's side not held out to seal Sunday's narrow win at Ashton Gate.

Speaking immediately after Championship survival was secured, Redknapp said: "The owners are nice people, having met them I was really impressed so yeah I'm interested.

"You don't want to go through another year like this, it's no good to anyone is it. Hopefully, we can strengthen the squad and I think they want to do it. They're ambitious and I think they can do it, that's all I'm asking for."

Redknapp has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Birmingham and is keen to continue with the same back-room pair Steve Cotterill and Paul Groves.
