Harry Redknapp says Queens Park Rangers are desperate to get back into the Premier League but believes his side are only third favourites to go up.

QPR travel to Wigan in the first leg of their play-off semi-final tomorrow, with the return leg at Loftus Road on Monday.

Redknapp said today: “We have a lot of winners, people who want to get back and play at the top level. It is a great opportunity for them to do that. They have got to make sure they take it now. It is important for all four clubs. Wigan came down with us last year, Derby were a Premier League club for years and Brighton are a club with great potential.”

QPR’s form has improved since top scorer Charlie Austin returned from injury and Redknapp believes the forward will play an important role in the play-offs.

“We are confident and looking forward to it,” said Redknapp. “Our form has picked up since Charlie came back and we’re in decent form.”

However, Redknapp thinks the odds favour Uwe Rosler’s Wigan side and Derby, managed by Steve McClaren.

He said: “Wigan are a good side and probably have the best squad in the division. They have a good young manager and a great chairman. It is all sudden death now. I think Derby are favourites, then Wigan, so I think we are third favourites.”
