Harry Kane has warned Premier League defences that he is ready to repeat his goal-scoring feats of last season.

The Tottenham striker was named PFA Young Player of the Year after a breakthrough campaign in which he scored 21 goals from 34 League games.

Now that Kane is no longer a surprise package, the challenge for him is to do it again.

And the 22-year-old said today: "I can take a lot of confidence into this year, knowing that I can do it against the big teams and anyone in the Premier League.

"So I’ve got to try and keep working hard and keep trying to improve, and take that into the games and, hopefully, keep scoring.”

Despite Kane’s goals, Spurs missed out on a top-four spot last season but the England striker believes his club can break into the elite this term.

He told CNN: “We will be looking to go in the top four. There are a lot of top teams in the Premier League, I think the top seven or eight teams can all fight for Champions League spots.

“We came fifth last year which was a good season for us. We had a cup final in there as well. For a young team that is a great experience. We have set a building block now that we will try and improve on.”

Tonight, Kane will come up against former Spurs players Gareth Bale and Luka Modric when Tottenham face Real Madrid in the Audi Cup in Munich.

Meanwhile, Spurs have agreed a deal with Aston Villa for Emmanuel Adebayor but it is now down to the striker as to whether he moves to the Midlands.
