Net gains: Harry Kane has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season for Spurs

Harry Kane has set his sights on emulating Jurgen Klinsmann after a stellar season at Tottenham.

Kane has 20 goals in all competitions and his performances have seen him compared with the former Germany forward, who scored 30 times in 56 matches across two spells for Spurs in the 1990s.

“To be compared to a player like that is something I’m very happy with,” Kane said. “He was a top player who scored a lot of goals for club and country so if I can score the amount of goals he did I’m sure I’ll have a fine career.”

Spurs struggled against the Premier League’s best sides last term but Kane believes their 5-3 win over leaders Chelsea last month will give them confidence for the challenges ahead.

He told Sky Sports: “Doing that against a top team showed we’re a great side, and I know what London derbies are about. I’ve been a fan so I know what expect and how they’re feeling on the day of these games.

“Any good striker would be happy with the goals I’ve scored and hopefully the run continues. I don’t want it to end here. It’s been great so far but there’s still plenty of time left. I hope I can carry on to the end and score a few more goals.”
