Harry Kane says Tottenham must find a way to beat a rampant Chelsea side when they meet the Blues early in the New Year.

Antonio Conte's team have recorded 12 straight vitories and sit top of the Premier League table - six points ahead of closest rivals Liverpool and a further four in front of Tottenham, who sit fifth.

If Chelsea beat Stoke on New Year's Eve they will have the chance to match Arsenal's Premier League record winning streak at White Hart Lane on January 4.

But Kane is reluctant to concede defeat in the Premier League title race and believes Spurs can take a chunk out of Chelsea's lead.

"We have put together a good run," said Kane. "We’ve won a few in a row and we need to keep winning. Chelsea have won 12 in a row and hopefully we can put a stop to that run.

"We’re focused on Watford (on New Year’s Day) first — to get another win there — but it is a big game against Chelsea and we don’t want to fall too far behind them. So whatever happens we have to try to win that game.

"We have to try to win every game and hope Chelsea and the teams above us drop points. We can’t have too many off days. We are going to keep fighting and pushing until the very end."

If Tottenham win at Watford on New Year's Day, defeat to Chelsea would leave them 13 points off the pace - a result which would surely run a sword through their title hopes.

"I can see why people might think that," added Kane. "We’re not going to think like that. We’re here to try to stop that from happening. There are six strong teams in the running for the title. We are in the mix and all we can do is win games and see where it takes us."
