Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has been called up to the senior France squad for the first time in his career.

The 20-year-old has represented his country at various youth levels and will replace Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano in the squad who will take on the Netherlands and Scotland.

Club teammate Axel Disasi has also been drafted into the Les Bleus set-up in place of Barcelona star Jules Kounde.

Gusto has been something of a fixture in Mauricio Pochettino’s first team at Stamford Bridge this season after injury problems with Blues captain Reece James.

A red card picked up against Aston Villa last month, however, has ruled him out of the last two games but the 20-year-old will be available for selection against Arsenal after the break.

Disasi, meanwhile, was part of the France squad who reached the 2022 World Cup final and has four caps for his country.

Arsenal’s William Saliba has been forced to pull out of the squad too after suffering a hamstring injury during their win over Manchester City on Sunday.
