Former Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle believes Mauricio Pochettino can ‘work wonders’ if he takes charge at White Hart Lane this summer.

The Southampton manager is favourite to succeed Tim Sherwood at Spurs, after guiding the Saints to their highest-ever Premier League points tally this term.

Pochettino was unmoved when questioned about the vacant post at Tottenham earlier this week, but Hoddle has tipped him to succeed if he opts to switch the south coast for north London.

"I think Pochettino is a super young manager," Hoddle told talkSPORT.

"He has done a brilliant job at Southampton and I think he would be a very good acquisition for Tottenham.

"I've been very impressed with the way he's had Southampton playing this year and I think, with the squad at Tottenham, he could do real wonders there."

With the new boss set to be Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s third appointment in two years, Hoddle has urged a period of stability going forward.

He added: "I think Spurs have to look at some continuity in the long term and, if they don't do that, they'll struggle.

"Changing the manager too many times in a short period of time isn't healthy for the club or the success the fans want."
