Owen Garvan eased the pressure on Crystal Palace manager George Burley with a match-saving double against Watford at Selhurst Park last night.

Palace have won just two of their last 10 games and remain bottom of the Championship but Burley is adamant speculation over his future will not distract him in his battle to turn things around.

"I never feared I would lose my job," said Burley, whose side battled back from 2-1 down to win 3-2. "I haven't got a magic wand but I am confident we can build from there."

Watford manager Malky Mackay was left stunned after Garvan inspired Palace's comeback and admitted his team's profligacy in front of goal cost them dear. "It's bizarre how we lost and we'll have to work on our finishing," he said.
