Gareth Bale was left out of Tottenham's starting line-up after his partner went in to labour just before today's Barclays Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Tom Huddlestone replaced the Welshman while Brad Friedel and Gylfi Sigurdsson started in the place of Hugo Lloris and hip injury victim Mousa Dembele.

John Terry started his four-match ban for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, meaning Gary Cahill partnered David Luiz at the heart of the Chelsea defence.

Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen, Huddlestone, Sandro, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Dempsey, Defoe. Subs: Lloris, Adebayor, Naughton, Dawson, Falque, Livermore, Townsend.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Oscar, Hazard, Mata, Torres. Subs: Turnbull, Romeu, Lampard, Moses, Sturridge, Azpilicueta, Bertrand.
