Gabriel Jesus: I want to be part of the family at Arsenal, not some superstar

New Arsenal signing Gabriel Jesus has insisted he doesn't want to be "the superstar" at the Emirates Stadium.

The £45million striker took just over 90 seconds to open his account for the club, coming on at half-time and scoring twice in a 5-3 friendly win over Nurnberg on Friday.

It was an eye-catching first outing in Arsenal colours for Jesus, his drive and energy in complete contrast to a lacklustre first half from others.

But Jesus has no desire to stand out from the pack, he is instead keen to become a team player in the quest for silverware.

He said: "I don’t want to be the superstar, you know? I just want to play football, go out on the pitch and help my teammates, like a family we have to do it together.

"I'm not here to be ‘the man’. I’m here to help, to learn with these guys as well, and to win together."

Jesus's move from Manchester City was confirmed on Monday and the Brazilian says his introduction could not have gone better.

“I’m so, so proud. I’m proud to be here at this big club,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’ve completed four or five days together with the lads, and I just want to say thank you to everyone at Arsenal because they make me feel at home.

“Everyone is talking, coming to me and saying ‘good luck, we are happy to have you here’, and I’m happy to be here as well. That makes me feel at home.”
