England under-21s thrashed Guinea under-23s at the Toulon Tournament on Monday, with Fulham forward Cauley Woodrow playing a starring role.

A shock looked to be on the cards as Guinea took the lead against the Three Lions after just 45 seconds, but Woodrow set up Aston Villa's Jack Grealish to equalise with a debut goal seven minutes in.

England took the lead from the penalty spot as captain James Ward-Prowse netted following a Guinea handball, and Nathan Redmond gave his side breathing space with a stunning 30-yard finish four minutes later.

Grealish netted his second just before half-time to take a commanding 4-1 lead into the break, and Woodrow had a hand in the fifth soon after the interval.

The 21-year-old forward - who scored four Championship goals for Fulham last term - saw his shot saved, but Mohamed Toure could not prevent himself from deflecting the ball home five minutes into the second half.

Woodrow finally got his goal eight minutes later as he finished neatly from the left-hand side of the area, and then added another 15 minutes later from close range to complete the rout.

The Fulham youngster tweeted after the game that he was 'pleased' to get on the scoresheet and was 'looking forward to the games ahead.'
