Peter Crouch scored the only goal as Stoke beat Fulham in the Capital One Cup.

Crouch found the net after 33 minutes to put Stoke into the fourth round and give Mark Hughes a winning return to Craven Cottage.

Fulham did well against their Premier League opponents but, on the night former starlet Patrick Roberts made his Manchester City debut, they could not find an equaliser.

Shay Given pulled off a stunning one-handed save to deny Lasse Vigen Christensen an equaliser before Dan Burn hit the bar in injury time.

Fulham now turn their attention to a west London derby against Queens Park Rangers in the Championship on Friday night.
