The opening match of the World Cup takes place on June 12, as hosts Brazil take on Croatia, in the Maracana.

Brazil last hosted football's ultimate showpiece event back in 1950, only for Uruguay to pip them to the Jules Rimet Trophy.

That moment gave birth to the infamous Ghost of the 1950, and that - and many more - feature in our collection of most memorable World Cup moments.
