Prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant for Leyton Orient owner Francesco Becchetti.

The Italian is accused by Albanian authorities of fraud-related offences and money laundering.

The charge relates to a failed hydro-electric scheme that allegedly cost the Albanian government tens of millions of euros in grants and unpaid taxes and carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years. Orient were unavailable for comment when contacted today.

Standard Sport revealed last month that Becchetti is considering selling Orient following their relegation to League Two.

The Italian is willing to listen to offers despite only taking control last July, when he paid Barry Hearn £4 million for a 90 per cent stake in the club.

Orient have had a nightmare 12 months since Becchetti took over and the latest developments add to the turmoil.
