Millwall have taken former Tottenham and West Ham winger Matthew Etherington on trial in view of offering him a permanent move.

Etherington is currently still without a club having been released by Stoke at the end of last season.

Millwall boss Ian Holloway is in the hunt for a wideman and has already looked at, and subsequently rejected, the opportunity of signing former Manchester United and Burnley star Chris Eagles earlier in the season.

Etherington has been training with West Ham in order to keep match fit and is looking to secure a switch to the capital, where he has been based for most of his life.

The 33-year-old has spent the majority of his career playing in the Premier League and believes he can help Millwall in the Championship.
