Fernando Torres has taken a swipe at English football by claiming the Premier League is overrated.

Torres left Chelsea last summer to join AC Milan on a two-year loan deal and ahead of his first derby for his new club, against Inter Milan, it seems the Spain forward has little desire to return to England.

Torres told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Seven years [in England] were enough. It's a great league, but it seems better than it is because they know how to sell it and push it more than in other European countries.

“But for me right now, all that counts is Milan. They are my priority. Milan will be great again because top players want to play for the top clubs and the top clubs are those with a great history. Football moves in cycles.”

Torres had a superb start to his career in England but then declined after joining Chelsea for a then-British record £50million in January 2011.
