Fifa 17 players will be able to enjoy a full story mode for the first time in the series by taking on the task of guiding Alex Hunter to glory.

EA Sports released the latest trailer - entitled 'The Journey' - on Sunday night, with Fifa 17 to offer a story mode similar to the developer's NBA 2K16 series, which was directed by Spike Lee.

Tottenham and England star Harry Kane has been named as a 'story consultant' for Fifa 17, helping on matters of authenticity given his recent rapid rise from Spurs' reserves in 2014 to England's first-choice striker at Euro 2016.

Kane's team-mate Dele Alli is an 'authenticity consultant', along with fellow Manchester United's rising star Marcus Rashford and West Ham prodigy Reece Oxford.

United forward Anthony Martial and Chelsea winger Eden Hazard are also involved, providing advice as well as being signed up as performance capture athletes to utilise the new and improved Frostbite game engine.

The latest trailer shows story mode character Alex Hunter on the rise at Manchester United, with commentator Martin Tyler providing the voiceover.

The video begins with the news that Hunter has rejected a host of big-name clubs in favour of United, and shows the youngster in training before making his first appearance off the bench for the Red Devils.

Despite embarking on what appears to be a a successful run, the trailer hints at the darker side of the game as Hunter reacts to pressure while a voice suggests: "Just don't get too carried away... it can disappear just like that.

"Life doesn't always give you what you want, does it?"

Hunter then misses a gilt-edged chance before the camera cuts to a furious Jose Mourinho on the Old Trafford sidelines - another new shift for the series given that managers have not been in previous releases.

There appear to be several recurring characters in the trailer, including an agent, an academy graduate friend and members of Hunter's family.

While it remains to be seen when or whether players will get to decide on representation, transfers and living arrangements, EA's website shows Hunter given options to respond in a post-match press conference, with players invited to make 'critical decisions' to change Hunter's career.

For those of you wanting to get your hands on the latest instalment, Fifa 17 will be released in Europe on Thursday, September 29.
