Feyenoord 'want Arsenal coach Albert Stuivenberg' to replace Liverpool-bound Arne Slot

The Gunners could lose a key Mikel Arteta ally in the coming months

Feyenoord are targeting a move for Arsenal assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg as a replacement for Liverpool-bound Arne Slot, according to reports.

The Reds are today continuing negotiations with the Dutch side over a compensation package for Slot, having made the 45-year-old their preferred choice to replace the outgoing Jurgen Klopp.

It has been reported that it will take a compensation fee in the region of £8.5million to release Slot from the final two years of his Feyenoord contract.

Dutch newspaper AD report that Feyenoord have already begun drawing up candidates to replace Slot and Mikel Arteta's assistant is of interest for several reasons.

Stuivenberg has previously worked at the club with the youth academy at Feyenoord, along with his father, and has past experience with Dutch managerial great Louis van Gaal while at Manchester United.

The 54-year-old, who joined Arteta at Arsenal in 2019, has never taken a top job during his long coaching career.
