Sir Alex Ferguson believes Javier Hernandez can become a Manchester United great after the stunning start to his Old Trafford career.
The Mexico striker, who scored both goals against Stoke on Sunday, booked a Carling Cup quarter-final spot with a brilliant winner in the final minute against Wolves last night.
Ferguson, still reeling from the controversy surrounding Wayne Rooney's contract saga, said: "They tend to build heroes quickly here but he's justifying the praise at the moment. He's very professional, the first out on the training ground and the last one back in every day and he's rightly getting a lot of praise for his goalscoring.
"When he gets a chance, you know he's going to take it. His touch, control of the ball and vision are improving and that's because the training is intense.
"He was absolutely brilliant — it was a magnificent goal. He shaped to shoot, dummied the defender and finished really well."
Ferguson said the fact that Hernandez, 22, a summer signing from Guadalajara, speaks excellent English has been "essential" for him settling in so quickly and suggested that is why Bebe may not have been so quick to do so.
Bebe, the relatively-unknown striker signed in the summer for £7.4million from Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes, crowned a promising first start with the opening goal in the 3-2 win at Old Trafford.
George Elokobi equalised, Ji-Sung Park made it 2-1 to the home side but Kevin Foley hauled Wolves level again until Hernandez's excellent finish.
Disappointed Wolves manager Mick McCarthy said: "We responded very well and came back twice and, if we keep playing like that, then it will turn for us."
