Tottenham outcast Federico Fazio is due to join Roma today.

The Argentine centre-back has been told by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino that he is no longer wanted at White Hart Lane, and is expected to complete an initial loan move to Italy.

If Fazio is successful at Roma this season, it will pave the way to a permanent move worth about £4million.

Pochettino confirmed during Spurs' pre-season tour of Australia that Fazio, Nabil Bentaleb and Alex Pritchard were not part of his plans, but also suggested Clinton N'Jie still has a role to play at White Hart Lane.

The quartet were left out of Tottenham's 24-man squad for the trip to Melbourne, with Pochettino saying: "The situation of the other three players - Bentaleb, Fazio and Pritchard - is very clear.

"They are not in my plans and they know.

"I have communicated with them and it was made very clear.

"It's not a problem. They know the situation and we'll see what happens."
