Fantasy Premier League tips: FPL triple gameweek 35 for Manchester United - scout, transfers, captains

Tom Doyle7 May 2021

Fantasy Premier League managers everywhere are today busy planning for what could be a huge points return in a mammoth gameweek 35 of the season.

There are plenty of tempting double-gameweek players to gamble on as the season reaches its final stages, while Manchester United’s postponed game against Liverpool means the Red Devils face a huge - and extremely rare - triple-header.

With the FPL deadline fast approaching on Friday, May 7 at 6:30pm BST, here is a look at some of the key players you need to have - and a few who could be worth taking a risk on...

Triple gameweek for Man United

Manchester United’s rearranged fixture against Liverpool falls on May 12, sandwiched in the middle of what had previously been a double gameweek to make it a triple-header for the Red Devils.

United face three tough tests in Aston Villa away (May 9) before Leicester (May 11) and Liverpool (May 13) at home, but the prospect of the team currently sitting second in the League playing three times in one gameweek is too tempting to turn down.

Still, it will be a balancing act for FPL bosses with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer certain to rotate, so your best bet may be big-hitters. Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) has to be one pick given he rarely misses a minute for United - and even if he posts a disappointing score, the fact he is likely to be captain in most FPL teams will shield you from all but the most left-field differential picks.

The likes of Luke Shaw (£5.4m), Harry Maguire (£5.5m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£5.7m) will likely play at least two of the three games - and very possibly three - but the chance of coneding in all three games is also decent. Further forward, Mason Greenwood (£7.2m) is in great form and will surely get plenty of minutes. Marcus Rashford (£9.6m), Paul Pogba (£7.6m) and Edinson Cavani (£7.9m) are also tempting, but don’t expect 270 minutes out of them.

If we had to pick three from United right now, it’s be Fernandes, Shaw and Greenwood.

Double gameweek elsewhere

It’s easy to get sucked in to United’s triple gameweek, but plenty of other teams have enticing double gameweeks to take advantage of.

Free-scoring Kelechi Iheanacho (£6.3m) is a must-have with a home game against Newcastle before a trip to a Man United team who could be rotating, with Foxes defender Tiomthy Castagne (£5.8m) also tempting.

Chelsea also have two games coming up, but it’s a tough double-header: first up is a trip to fellow Champions League finalists Manchester City before a home tie against Arsenal.

Christian Pulisic (£8.3m) came off the bench in the win against Real Madrid, and will be itching to continue his fine form, while Kai Havertz (£8.3m) should have had a hat-trick - if he gets into similar positions in the next two games, he could post a very tidy return.

It’s been an up-and-down season for Crystal Palace, but they face Sheffield United and Southampton - two winnable games where clean sheets are entirely possible - so goalkeeper Vicente Guaita (£4.8m) could be a cheap differential. The Saints would disagree there though, and James Ward-Prowse (£5.8m) could be a high scorer from set-pieces against Liverpool and Palace.

Last but not least, Everton are a tough call given they win tough games and seem to lose the winnable ones. Still, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.5m) and Lucas Digne (£6.1m) could get some serious attacking points on the board against West Ham and Villa.
