The FA is investigating an allegation of racism involving Charlton Athletic striker Jonathan Leko and Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla at the weekend.

The alleged discrimination took place during Charlton’s 1-0 win over Leeds at the Valley on Saturday.

Referee John Brooks included the incident in his match report and the FA have launched an investigation.

Leko is on loan at Charlton from West Brom. Spanish goalkeeper Casilla is understood to be at the centre of the FA’s investigation.

Charlton forward Macauley Bonne, who scored the winner for Charlton, said after the game: “There was one thing that happened today that I will not mention until it comes out later.”

Charlton handed Leeds only their second defeat of the season to move into the play-off places in the Championship.

Casilla was the fault for the winning goal when he pushed a Tom Lockyer shot into the back of the Bonne before the ball trickled over the line.

Charlton said in a statement: "Charlton Athletic can confirm that an allegation of racial abuse directed at Jonathan Leko by an opposing player during Saturday’s game against Leeds United was reported to referee John Brooks.

"The Football Association are carrying out an investigation following the report.

"The club will support Leko throughout the process and will not be making any further comment until the investigation is concluded."

Leeds said in a statement: "Leeds United are aware of an allegation made following our Sky Bet Championship game with Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Saturday.

"The club will be working with the FA during their investigation.

"We will be making no further comment at this stage."
