John Terry's brother, Paul, has been charged by the Football Association for breaking betting rules.

The 41-year-old, who works for West Brom as their loan manager, is accused of placing more than 200 bets between November 1, 2017 and October 25, 2019.

The FA have given Terry, who played for Dagenham and Redbridge, Yeovil Town and Leyton Orient among other clubs during his career,  a week to respond to the charge of placing 209 bets.

A statement from The FA read: "Breach of FA Rule E8 - Misconduct in respect of 209 bets placed on football matches between 01 November 2017 and 25 October 2019.

"The Participant has until 10th November 2020 to provide a response."

Former England striker Daniel Sturridge was handed a four month global ban after being found guilty of breaching The FA's betting rules earlier this year, while Three Lions right-back Kieran Trippier missed a Nations League game last month after being called to his own betting hearing during the international break.

The ruling states: "A participant shall not bet, either directly or indirectly, or instruct, permit, cause or enable any person to bet on – (i) the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of, or occurrence in or in connection with, a football match or competition."
