David Moyes believes that Spanish football is more technical than the Premier League.

Moyes made a return to management last month following his unsuccessful spell at Manchester United after being handed the reins at La Liga side Real Sociedad.

His new club lie 14th — just five points from the bottom of the table — but the Scot insisted there were already differences between the two styles of play six weeks into his tenure.

“Spanish football can be more technical and perhaps English football can be more physical and with stronger teams,” he said.

“But we must recognise that this Spanish national team have won a World Cup and two European Championships and that means that in Spain, in La Liga, they are doing things very well.

“I have always stressed that English football is very competitive but, since I have been here, I think that La Liga is too. I love the diversity that is being achieved in La Liga and in the Premier League, and that is a good thing for the sport.”

Bar a 4-0 drubbing by Villarreal two weeks ago, Real Sociedad have enjoyed a bright start under Moyes with a win and three draws.

And the 51-year-old was quick to praise his players despite lacking the star names he worked with during his brief tenure at Manchester United.

“The United players are very good players and they train very hard but at Sociedad I find very professional players that are careful, focused on their work and always looking for the good of the team,” he added.

“It’s true that at United there are very big players but also at Sociedad I was surprised to see that there are also very good players here.”
