Everton host West Ham in the meeting of two clubs with proud histories, devoted fans and ambitions of disrupting the established Premier League elite.

West Ham finished sixth last season and earned a European adventure for their efforts. The Hammers have not started this campaign as they finished the last, and sit ninth from seven games, but yhat does not tell the full story.

Two late defeats to Manchester United and Brentford denied them two points that would have placed them seventh. A win today will see them leapfrog Everton.

The Toffees are flying under new manager Rafa Benitez with four wins from seven fixtures and find themselves in fifth. They’ve lost just once and earned a credible 1-1 draw at Old Trafford before the international break.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Everton vs West Ham team news

Michail Antonio has been in fine form this season, scoring five goals and setting up another three from just seven matches. After he decided not to join up with Jamaica during this international break, David Moyes will be buoyed by his fitness and freshness.

Moyes has headaches elsewhere, however. Right-back is a particular problem with both Vladmir Coufal and Ryan Fredericks looking to recover from significant injuries.

There are more concerns for Everton as first-choice forwards Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, full-backs Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman as well midfielder Andre Gomes have all found their way on the injury list.

There is also doubt of central defender Yerry Mina who might be fatigued following his commitments with the Colombian national team.

Everton vs West Ham prediction:

This could be the most difficult game to call this weekend. Both teams are looking to prove that they belong closer to the top than the middle of the league and are led by two managers eager to do the same.

Despite being the away side, West Ham will want to take the game to Everton and have a red hot striker capable of causing them problems.
