Eden Hazard: Hungary win was my best performance ever for Belgium

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has admitted he feels his scintillating performance in Belgium's 4-0 thrashing of Hungary on Sunday was his best-ever for his nation.

Hazard put in a superb showing in the last-16 clash in Toulouse after the 25-year-old first set up Michy Batshuayi for Belgium's second goal of the night before he went on to score a fine solo effort in the 79th minute.

The Chelsea man had other chances to score, but Marc Wilmots' men still booked their place in the quarter-finals of the European Championships - where they will play Wales - after securing a 4-0 win.

Hazard admits his desire to beat Hungary was the reason why he performed "almost perfectly" on Sunday, but insisted it will be difficult to better such a showing when Belgium take on Chris Coleman's side in Lille on Friday.

Asked if the win over Hungary was his best performance for Belgium, Hazard said: "Yes. I had a lot of desire to win.

"We scored goals, created chances and Thibaut Courtois got his clean sheet so it was a good evening.

"Maybe it was not the best opponent but they were still a tough side to play against. It will be hard to improve on the performance as it was almost perfect. We played well.

"I knew they were a team with a lot of quality who defended well. I knew we would have to be patient to score a goal. My younger brother [Kylian, who plays in Hungary] spoke about that, we got some information and studied them."
