Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has told the club’s fans to enjoy star striker Luis Suarez “while he’s here”.

The Uruguay striker, who scored two goals against Fulham on Saturday, was heavily linked with a move away from Anfield in the summer and is expected to be the subject of further speculation in January and at the end of the season.

Liverpool have resisted all interest so far but Gerrard is realistic enough to know a player of his quality will be on the biggest clubs’ radars when the transfer window opens again.

“I think everyone knows how much I rate him,” said Gerrard.

“I think we are very lucky to have him and we have to enjoy him while he’s here.

“For me he is one of the top four or five players in the world for sure.”
