England's possible routes to the World Cup Final - who Gareth Southgate's side must beat to reach Moscow

Not since 1966 have England made it to a World Cup Final.

Though at the moment even a first knockout win in 12 years would constitute progress that won’t stop the nation dreaming of what might be when Gareth Southgate’s men kick off against Tunisia on June 18.

The Three Lions will be hoping that is the start of a seven-game odyssey that ends in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on July 15, though to do so England are going to have to overcome some of the finest sides in world football.

Their route to the final will depend on where they finish in Group G, where they are expected to battle with Belgium for top spot. However whether they end up first or second they are going to have to beat at least three of the competition’s top contenders.
