Former England midfielder Paul Ince has urged Dele Alli to learn form David Beckham's red card against Argentina and ensure he does not meet the same fate at Euro 2016.

The Spurs midfielder enjoyed a superb debut season in the Premier League and scored 10 goals for Mauricio Pochettino's side as he established himself at both club and international level.

But Alli also received 11 bookings for Spurs in all competitions and missed the final three games of the season after accepting a charge of violent conduct following a clash with West Brom's Claudio Yacob.

The midfielder's tenacious streak could see him targeted by opposing players in France this summer and Ince is adamant Alli must take stock of the situation Beckham endured after being dismissed at the World Cup 18 years ago.

"I actually felt sorry for Becks at the time because Simeone made the most of it, as you would do," he told the Sun.

"The continental players are clever and he got done. Dele should look at that incident and think about what he is doing.

"He is vital for England. He is a young lad but he has to grow up quickly

"Some of the stuff he has done in the Premier League has been petulant," Ince added.

While Ince admires the manner in which Alli carries himself on the pitch he believes the Spurs youngster needs to curb his behaviour at Euro 2016 due to the contrasting refereeing styles he will encounter.

"I do quite like the way he stands up for himself. It shows a nice arrogance and that he won't be walked over.

"But he must remember Premier League referees are different to foreign referees and they won't tolerate it," said Ince.
