Wales climbed back above England today to become the leading British team in the FIFA rankings.

Chris Coleman’s side are up to 13th, while England have dropped to 15th.

Wales’ ranking could have an impact on their chances of qualifying for the World Cup because it will decide if they are seeded or not, should they reach the play-offs.

Wales are second in Group D, four points behind leaders Serbia, and vying for a play-off spot with the Republic of Ireland.

As things stand, being seeded would mean they avoid Portugal and Italy in a two-legged play-off to reach the finals in Russia.

Northern Ireland are 20th in the FIFA rankings, 23 places ahead of Scotland.
