Emmanuel Eboue would love to return to the Emirates, though whether Arsenal fans would welcome him back with open arms may be another matter.

The 32-year-old, a free agent after leaving Galatasaray at the end of last season, spent seven seasons at Arsenal between 2004 and 2011.

He spent much of the time as Arsene Wenger’s first-choice right-back but was unpopular with many supporters for his tendency to make costly mistakes.

Eboue was booed off by a section of Arsenal followers during a substitute appearance against Wigan in 2008, with the defender in tears after the remorseless jeering of his own supporters.

Towards the end of his time at the club he became something of a cult figure, and Eboue has confirmed that he would like to be reunited with Wenger before the end of his career.

“I came back for training [at Galatasaray] and was told I would not be playing,” he told the Sun.

“The president told the manager at the time no to pick me. The way I was treated was very unfair.

“We are looking for options but I’d love to come back to Arsenal.”

Eboue made 214 appearances for Arsenal and settled in well during his early season sat the Turkish giants. However he did not make a single appearance under Cesare Prandelli and Hamza Hamzaloglu as Galatasaray went on the win the Super Lig.
